Get to know me!
Afsa Sr. suffers from dementia and Alzheimer’s, as she lives her last days playing carrom with her 20-year-old past self, Afsa Jr. in her hallucinations. She revisits the turning point of her life, when her marriage was about to break and she would lose everything, only to advise her younger self in her hallucination to stick to the decisions she has already taken to be where she is.
Afsa Sr. wakes up and walks over to the carrom board table in the living room every day, and starts setting up the board for a game. As soon as she is done with her setup, her past self, Afsa Jr. walks in with her luggage from the other room. They sit and start playing carrom as they discuss the course of action for Afsa Jr. because her husband is leaving her for another woman. Afsa Jr., who is dressed in her wedding saree, sits in despair as Afsa Sr., now a much more seasoned woman, directs her past self, Afsa Jr. into taking action, that is by getting her husband a child, for him if not from him. Having to lose everything if her marital status is lost, Afsa Jr. gives in to this, something she strongly opposes otherwise, and decides upon this course of action. They sit and play carrom as they reach this decision together.
As Afsa Jr. takes her final strike in carrom, Rami, Afsa’s son, walks in, in the middle of this conversation, and as the women reach their decision, both the Afsas instantly get up and say that they are pregnant.
Rami remains unfazed and simply walks over to the counter with medicines kept on it, and brings it to Afsa Sr., who, it is now revealed, is sitting by herself alone by the carrom board, with no sign of Afsa Jr.
Rami talks to Afsa Sr., and Afsa Sr. is not able to recognize him until he brings over a picture of a young woman holding a baby boy. Afsa Sr. points at the woman in the picture and recognizes herself, and calls out her name Afsa. Rami then pushes on, asking her to recognize the child in the picture with the woman, to which she sits silently. He nudges and asks her who is he, and she responds with silence.
